Welcome to my weather sat pages

These pages are dedicated to the reception of Polar Orbiting Weather Sats

They use APT (Automatic Picture Transmission) where they continually orbit the earth and transmit the data on the 137.MHz Band

The pictures can be recieved back here on planet earth and the signals can be processed by any std home PC and the pictures will magically appear line by line, not unlike a fax

The list of current Sats that are "active"

  • NOAA 15 (using 137.5 Mhz)
  • NOAA 17 (using 137.62 Mhz)
  • NOAA 18 (using 137.1 Mhz)
  • Any common radio reciever capable of tuning to these frequencies is able to receive the signal, however the bandwidth the sats use is wider than std narrowband FM , so a dedicated receiver is recommended to get the best fro the birds
